Plant Based Protein Powders

I wanted to share a few plant based/vegan protein powders I have been taking. When looking for any plant based protein powders, you want to make sure the ingredients are organic and non gmo first and foremost.  Secondly you want to make sure you are digesting the protein properly. Just because a friend loves this protein doesn’t mean you will. Everyone’s body is different and will respond differently to foods. Majority of plant based protein powders are made with pea or rice and other ingredients. One that I have been using for the past week and am really loving is by VEGA. It is the the Protein and Greens Vanilla flavor. Ingredients in this are as listed: pea protein, alfalfa grass powder, pea starch, brown rice protein, hemp protein, sacha inchi, spinach powder, broccoli powder, stevia leaf extract, papain powder, organic kale powder and xanthan gum. If you looking for a great tasting protein with a bunch of greens in it also, Vega Protein and Greens is worth the try!

Second protein powder I have just purchased again is called EPIC by Sprout Living. I have taken this a few times prior and like the taste of this Chocolate/Maca flavor. The ingredients in this one are similar but I love that this protein also contains two powerful and effective adaptogenic herbs. One is ashwaghanda and the other is maca. Both of these herbs supply energy to your body and ashwaghanda is the number one herb to battle stress by lowering the amount of cortisol in your body and help to balance it out. The ingredients in this one is shown below in the picture. EPIC Chocolate Maca Protein is tasty and worth trying and they also sell sample packs you can purchase to try first before you commit to an entire bag!

So when it comes to choosing  plant based protein powders, the most important thing alongside it being organic and full of great ingredients, make sure you are able to digest it properly. Any signs of bloating or gas after taking probably mean you need to move on to the next one. I love taking mine right after I workout with unsweetened coconut milk and 1/2 of a frozen banana! See my ultimate favorite brand and flavor of coconut milk here!!

Hope you enjoyed this and it will help you choose a protein you love!
